Claude Monet and modern art Over the new year we shall be showing the exhibition "Claude Monet und die Moderne" or "Claude Monet and modern art", initiated by Dr. Karin Sagner-Düchting. This is the first time that a Munich exhibition has been devoted to the great impressionist, Monet. His later works, in particular the water lily pictures, will be copiously represented and juxtaposed with pictures of the Modern Age which originally go back to Monet's influence. In this connection we shall be showing pictures by Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Barnett Newman, Ellsworth Kelly, Clyfford Still, Willem de Kooning and many others.
